Samoyed Dogs are friendly and gentle pet. They are also known as Belier, Samoiedskaya Sobaka and Nenetskaya Laika. Their nicknames are Smiley or Sammy. The Samoyed was originated from Siberia. The dog was named after the Samoyede people of Siberia. This dog breed is considered as one of the fourteen ancient dog breeds. The Fourteen ancient dog breeds consist of Afghan Hound, Akita Inu, Alaskan Malamute, Basenji, Chow Chow, Lhasa Apso, Pekingese, Saluki, Samoyed, Shar Pei, Shiba Inu, Shih Tzu, Siberian Husky and Tibetan Terrier. Samoyed Dogs were used to be sled dogs, herding dogs or guard dogs. Samoyeds were brought to England in 1889. They were recognized by American Kennel Club (AKC) in 1906. Today, the Samoyed dog is a popular companion pet around the world.

  • Temperament – The Samoyed dog is easy going, friendly, gentle, highly intelligent, loyal, playful and outgoing. They are eager to please their owner. The erect ears are in triangle-shaped and the nose is black. The Samoyed has a strong neck. The chest is deep and the ribs are well-sprung. They have powerful legs and the feet are large. They have a long tail which curled at the back. The Samoyed has a double thick coat. The outer coat is harsh and the under coat is soft.
